ABOUT US

The Honorary Deputy Sheriffs, Inc., is an official auxiliary of the Butte County Sheriffs Department. We were first established in 1983 by authority of the Sheriff of Butte County. Success of the organization over the past two decades has been phenomenal.

The Honorary Deputy Sheriffs organization serves as a public relations and fundraising instrument for Butte County law enforcement agencies. All of our members are volunteers. We are comprised of dedicated residents of our community who have stepped forward to help keep our streets and neighborhoods safer. We are not sworn peace officers. We do however include among our ranks several prominent members of law enforcement.

As a 510 (c)3 California nonprofit corporation, your tax deductible donation will be used for:

* Providing Butte County law enforcement agencies with a supplementary funding source for vital crime fighting tools that are otherwise unavailable. All of the Butte County Sheriffs Department K-9s have been purchased with donations from the public.

* To cultivate community spirit and support for the dangerous and difficult job our law enforcement must confront each day. 

* Continue to sponsor and promote crime prevention and public safety programs throughout the county. Such programs include financial support for McGruff and Scruff, the crime fighting dogs and their visits to Butte County school kids.
