...HONORARY DEPUTY SHERIFFS INC..
The Honorary Deputy Sheriffs, Inc. is an official auxiliary of the Butte County Sheriffs Department. We were first established in 1983 by authority of the Sheriff of Butte County. Success of the organization over the past two decades has been phenomenal.
The Honorary Deputy Sheriffs organization serves as a public relations and fundraising instrument for Butte County law enforcement agencies. Today our membership stand at 50 active members, all volunteers. We are comprised of dedicated resident of our community who have stepped forward to help keep our street and neighborhoods safer. We are not sworn peace officers. We do however include among our ranks several prominent members of law enforcement.
Membership requirements
1. Submit application for membership in Honorary Deputy Sheriffs Inc. (down load and application here, PDF)
2. Submit to fingerprinting and background check by California Department of Justice.
3. Upon approval by DOJ, Sheriffs Office and Honorary Deputy Sheriffs committee you will be administered the membership oath and receive the organization badge.
4. You will be issued an official photo identification card for Honorary Deputy Sheriffs Inc.

MEMBERSHIP PLEDGE:
I Promise to abide by the rules and regulations of the HONORARY DEPUTY SHERIFFS and I pledge myself and my energy to the support of the Sheriff and all law enforcement officials in their efforts to free our society of crime and to insure domestic tranquility. I will bear the badge of the ORGANIZATION with pride and dignity, and promise that my action will reflect honorably upon this ORGANIZATION and my fellow members. I take this pledge willingly and without reservations as a member of the HONORARY DEPUTY SHERIFFS.
