Amended and Restated Articles of Incorporation of the “ Honorary Deputy Sheriff’s Inc.”
Article 1:
Name – Honorary Deputy Sheriff’s Inc. (HDS)
Article 2:
Purpose/objectives- The primary purpose of the HDS is fundraising for the purpose of supplemental funding for the Butte County Sheriff’s Office and all Butte County law enforcement agencies.
To promote law enforcement to the community
To assist law enforcement with any means we have to help keep our communities safe.
For Citizens who want to help make Butte County Safer to be with like minded people.
To promote and guarentee our 2nd amendment rights under the Constitution of the United States of America..
Article 3:
Membership:
Requirements for membership, applicant must be over 21, US Citizen, Must pass a background check, be a member of the NRA or have a current concealed weapons permit.
The requirements for an “active” member, he or she must attend 60% of meetings, must participate in 60% of fund raising activities.
An active member is entitled to a Butte County Sheriff’s badge and ID (the badge will clearly state “HONOARY DEPUTY SHERIFF” the badge and ID are strictly to show proof of the active members continued participation and may only be used as proof of identity and their affiliation to the HDS it can only be presented on request during a schantioned fund raising event.
Any other use of the badge and ID will be treated as a violation of the HDS by-laws and will be subject to review by the HDS board and in some cases may be referred to the Butte County Sheriff for his review and action.
The board can revoke membership for violations of the by-laws, since the badge is the property of Corporation any member who is admonished by the board can be required to surrender his or her badge to the Corporation and will surrender his or her Sheriff’s ID to the Sheriff.
The Dues for the active member is $100 per year. This fee may be waived for hardship by the board allowing the member to “work” off his or her obligation.
An active member who does not fulfill the requirements will be warned once before he or she fails to meet the requirements and after that can only be re-instated by vote of the board.
Requirements for a “General Member” are: willingness to pay the $30 a year dues and help with events if they can, attend meetings when or if they want to.
The General Member is entitled to photo ID issued by the HDS

Any Active member is eligible to be a board member.
Article 5:
Meetings
Board meetings will be held every month unless canceled by a majority of the board. The board meeting will be held the 3rd Thursday of each month at place designated by the board during the prior months meeting. The board may meet via telephonic or internet should a physical meeting be impracticable.
General meetings will be held each quarter and will be held at the Mounted Posse Building at the Butte County Sheriff’s pistol range or at a place selected by the board at the prior months meeting. The purpose of the quartly meeting is for all members to participate in board decisions that effect the organization as a whole. All members must attend 2 of the 4 yearly meeting to maintain active membership. General meetings are mandatory for board members unless excused buy vote of the board.

Amendments-These Bylaws may be amended at any regular meeting of the association by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the members in good standing, present and voting, provided the amendment has been submitted in writing at the previous regular meeting and does not conflict with the HDS bylaws.
